First day we meet at Lucknerhaus (1920 m) in early afternoon. From there we start the approach (if possible with bikes) towards Lucknerhutte and further to Studlhutte which presents our goal for the first day. Studlhutte is a very comfortable starting point for Grossglockner and it is also known for it's 5-star cuisine. Next day we depart from the hut, cross the remainings of the glacier and ascend to highest alpine hut in Austria - Erzherzog Johann Hutte (3454 m). Soon above the hut, the terrain gets steeper and more exposed as we reach the SE ridge that leads us to the summit. Descend folows the same way, back to the car.

You can watch a shoort video of climbing normal route on Grossglockner here. The video is from a a ski touring trip up the mountain, but the route is the same.

Way to Studlhutte (2802 m) is the same as for the normal route described above. From the hut, we folow a steep path towards NW for about an hour untill we reach the glacier below the SW face of Grossglockner. From there we quickly step onto the Studlgrat ridge and folow it to the summit. Climbing on the ridge is sometimes exposed and offers good rock on difficult sections. The ridge is about 800 m long with the constant grade of III and in some sections IV. Descend folows the normal route towards the Erzherzog Johann Hutte (3454 m) and further down to Studlhutte from where we folow the same way to the car.
